If users have reached your footer, they just went through your entire website. Clearly they are interested in what you’re talking about. The bottom of the page means there’s nothing else to read here; that’s your chance to grab a lead. Why not offer them a little more to read?
Try adding a single field for an email address to sign up for your newsletter. That way, people interested in what you’re doing can sign up to receive more. Keep it simple and clear, that’s all it needs to be. It may just net you a good amount of extra leads from very invested people.
