Comparing Instapage, Leadpages, Unbounce and others. What Landing Page Builder Fits your Needs?
In this blog post I’ll compare six of the most used tools for creating your landing pages: Instapage vs Unbounce vs LeadPages vs Kickofflab vs Lander vs ConvertKit. We take a look at ease of use, quality of landing page, capabilities and pricing
We know that there a lot of different solution for creating your landing page, so we need a way to see which one excels. To determine which software is best for what, I came up with the following criteria:
- Ease of use: How easy is it for you to create and launch your landing page? A lot of you probably don’t know how to code, so this criteria is very important.
- Quality of the landing pages: How good are the landing pages from the software? Are they optimized for conversions and how do they look? Notice, we are speaking about quality and not about the visual appeal. Great landing pages work, even if they aren’t designed that well.
- Capabilities: What are the possibilities with the tooling? Is it possible to, lets say, perform A/B tests and analyze your data, or is it just for creating the landing page?
- Pricing: Is it affordable?
Let’s compare shall we?
1. Instapage – Landing pages for less experienced users.
Instapages slogan is: Create a Landing Page in Just 3 Minutes, which is true. Getting started with Instapage is easy for everyone.
Ease of use: As the slogan already says, using Instapage is the most easy and intuitive landing page software there is on the market. You can setup your and launch your landing pages within a few minutes.
Quality of the landing page: Instapage has more than 80, mobile friendly, landing page templates that you can use for the following categories: Lead generation, Click-through, Webinar, Mobile App, Thank you page. A wide variety for almost very business.
Capabilities: For a simple tooling, Instapage still has a lot of great features. You can A/B test your landing pages, optimize it for SEO, track conversions and add social media to it.
Pricing: Instapage is the cheapest of all tools listed in this blogpost and does not restrict you in pages, visitors and domains (which is great!).
2. Unbounce – Landing page software for marketers.
Unbounce is one of the most well-known, high used landing page software on the marked. It mainly focusses on online marketers.
Ease of use: Unbouce is a little harder to get started with than Instapage. It offers a lot of functionalities, which required some up-front skills to use effectively. A perfect solution for marketers who build a lot of landing pages, but less interesting for business owners who sporadically build a landing page for their product.
Quality of the landing page: Unbounce had a lot of great landing page templates, which you can use. Most of them are highly focusses on getting visitors to convert, which is what you want for a landing page. Unbounce also has a top-notch WYSIGWY editor that enables you to build and design your own landing pages.
Capabilites: As mentioned before, Unbounce has a lot of functionalities. You probably won’t find any other tooling out there that enables you to do so much. It’s has a drag & drop editor, with advanced design features. Their templates are mobile friendly and 100% customizable. Furthermore, Unbounce lets you A/B test your pages with real-time stats and integrates easily with a lot of other tooling.
Probably one of Unbounce best feature, especially for marketers, is the possibility for client management. As agency you can add all your clients under one account and easily manage them.
Pricing: Unbounce their elaborateness also means a higher price, which is understandable. Prices start at $49 per month and go up to $199.
3. LeadPages – More than just a simple landing page creator.
LeadPages offers a lot more than just landing pages. You can see it as a leads generation tooling, with tools like LeadBoxes, LeadDigits, LeadLinks. For this review we’ll just focus on LeadPages’ landing page function.
Ease of use: LeadPages has launched it’s newest editor this year, which makes it easy for everyone to create a landing page. This plus their marketplace with over 100 templates makes creating a landing page for your company a piece of cake
Quality of the landing page: LeadPages has a template marketplace with a lot of different templates made by them or third-party developers. Their templates used to be a little ugly and chunky, but the overall quality has changed to the better this year.
A nice function of LeadPages marketplace is the possibility to filter on conversion rate. This enables you to see which landing pages perform the best.
Capabilities: LeadPages’ editor works just like every other tooling. You start with a template and make changes to them. One big difference is that LeadPages does not let you start with a blank slate. You have to use a template and edit it. It’s not possible to design your own template with the WYSIGWY editor. This can be a major downside if you wish to put your own creativity to use.
Besides that, LeadPages offers a lot of functionalities. It’s easy to build and edit your landing pages, for desktop and mobile, you can A/B test the page and optimize it for SEO. LeadPages power lies within the integration with their other tooling. It makes it easy to capture email addresses with LeadBoxes, gather mobile leads with LeadDigits and get visitors to subscribe to your lists using LeadLinks.
Pricing: LeadPages is really cheap, especially when paid annually, compared to their competitors, but offers the same. It’s cheapest package starts at $25 per month, but does not offer A/B testing and LeadPages other tooling.
4. Kickofflabs – Quick launching simple landing pages
Kickofflabs offers just like LeadPages more than just a landing page generator. Kickofflabs enables customers to offer opt-in forms, email automation and more. For this review we’ll only focus on the landing page builder.
Ease of use: Kickofflabs is like Instapage easy to use for beginners. It requires no upfront knowledge and their editor is simple to use. Making changes to the landing page templates is quite are though. It required some basic knowledge of HTML & CSS.
Quality of the landing page: Kickofflabs is really simple compared to their compatitors and that’s also visible in their landing page designs. They are not very visual appealing and conversion optimized. It seems like Kickofflabs main focus is only enabling quick launching of landing pages.
Capabilites: Kickasslabs has the same basic features as their compatitors: A/B testing, mobile friendly and a landing page editor.
Pricing: Kickasslabs used to have unlimited visitors per month, which was a great USP for them, but they have removed it. The cheapest package starts at $27 per month.

6. ConvertKit – Great for bloggers who want to sell a course or book.
ConvertKit is actually a marketing automation tool for bloggers. It lets you capture email adresses and after opting in, sends people a series of educational emails. This greatly increases the engagement and trust with your potential customers. This makes selling your product a lot easier.
The reason that I included ConvertKit into this blogpost, is because it has a feature to setup a landing page to capture leads for your e-book, course or product. Within a few minutes, you’ve got a simple but very effective landing page to gather emails with.
Easy of use: ConvertKit is easy and intuative to use. Everything is explained while you create your first campaign and landing page.
Quality of the landing page: ConvertKit only has 4 templates, because it is not it’s main focus. But the templates that are there do their job.
